Atal Lab

Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) under Atal Innovation Mission [AIM] is one such platform that provides an opportunity to our Young innovators to act on their ideas and nurture their pivotal moment to come true.

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, housed at the NITI Aayog, to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country.

Atal Innovation Mission [AIM] has established Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across India, and we are proud to have one at KMV Redhills High School.

The school management is honoured to collaborate and extend its great support by co-funding the initiative with required infrastructure facilities and staff. The ATL serves as a substantial boost to the Innovation ecosystem in the School.

Through the Atal Tinkering Labs, we can foster innovation at the school level, wherein students of Redhills get an opportunity to experience design thinking and widen their intellectual horizons in pursuit of solutions to day-to-day problems and showcase their innovations at prestigious platforms.

The major objectives of establishing ATL Lab in the school is to

To create workspaces where young minds can learn innovation skills, sculpt ideas through hands-on activities, work, and learn in a flexible environment and foster the Holistic development in each student.

To empower our young students with the 21-century skills of creativity, innovation, critical thinking, design thinking, social and cross-cultural collaboration, ethical leadership, and so on.

Every Student from Grades 6 to 12 gets a minimum of 2 hours per week duration of school hours to spend and implement their understanding, especially in the STEAM subjects, employing tinkering in ATL Lab.

The four levels of tinkering plan[Level 1: Pre Tinker / Level 2: Tinker Club Level / Tinker Lab Level / Post Tinker ] shall be integrated with the school curriculum, in the form of an ATL schedule, so that students get enough opportunities to successfully move through the different levels, graduating from students to tinkerers, to makers and eventually becoming innovators.

Young childrenget a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand ‘what, how, and why aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).

Our ATL is open not only for Redhills students but also for Government and other neighbouring Private school students to participate in various inter/intra school level challenges, hackathons, and exhibitions that brings in recognition, exposure, exchange new ideas, and develop social skills along with scientific temper and experience.

The ATL is equipped with tinkering kits — science, electronics, robotics, open-source microcontroller boards, sensors, 3D printers, and computers — for students to explore, experiment, and find solutions.

ATL conducts different activities such as workshops, skill development hands-on training, mentoring, and lecture series at periodic intervals.

All the support required for the students to transform an idea into invention; up to the level of obtaining patents and copyrights is extended to resilient student innovators by the ATL.
